Walter Bracewell Family enjoys qet together in Park

A group of about 25 descendents of waiter and Mary Leona Bracewell got together Saturday October 5, 1991, at Stephen F. Austin Park near Sealy, Texas off I-H 10.

A number of cousins who had been out of touch for sometime enjoyed getting back together to discuss old times, and new grandchildren.

Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery

Those of us who have regularly attended the Annual Reunion know of the Bracewells devoted work in maintaining the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Our common ancestors Joseph Marion Bracewell and Emiline (James) Bracewell are buried there as well as many other members. The Reunion was instrumented in establishing a permanent fund for perpetual care of the cemetery. We are still accepting contributions to the fund.

Several years ago the church building was torn down and the church property was deeded to the cemetery association.

The cemetery was expanded making new burial sites available to those who might want them. Anyone interested in plots should contact Raymond Bracewell, James Bracewell or Ken Farris.

Golden Circle group looses a beloved member

The many grandchildren of Joseph Marion and Emiline Bracewell have always been the motivators who have kept this Reunion going for 56 years. Eglan and husband Stone lived in Houston until retirement then returned to country life at Stoneham near Navasota until his passing in 1985. When she passed away last June at 81, she was living in Florida near her children. Her funeral service was held in Navasota.

High Flyer

Ken Farris, Grandson of Uncle Frank B., has been a pilot for Delta for many years.

He has recently moved up to jumbo jets and is now flying L-1011's on routes from the West Coast to Hawaii and across the Pacific.

The biggest disadvantage of the new job is that it keeps him away from his ranch in Madisonville more than he likes.

New Bracewells Come Two at a time

We have a new set of twins in the family, the first to come along in this family in at least 70 years.

Cash Lee Hendrick and Corey Scott Hendrick joined the family December 29, 1991. They are great grandchildren of Mary & Raymond Bracewell. Parents Cheri and John Hendrick promise to bring them to the Reunion to show them off.

Reunion Thanks to:

Travis Taylor, who produced the printed copies of the Bracewell Civil War letters.

Wendy Andries, who did the typing, folding, envelope stuffing and stamp licking to get our Reunion mailing out on time.

Mildred Schmidt, who continues to give us an updated mailing list every year.

Personal Bracewell Ancestory Chart

This is a sample of the Bracewell Ancestry chart which has been planned for several years. It has been corrected from the chart made some years ago.  This sample is completed through 14 generations.

Anyone wanting copies personalized for children or grandchildren can get them by sending a note showing their lineage from Joseph marion (our common ancestor in this family), and a self addressed envelope, we will try to make them up for you.
