On June 22, 1951 the Bedias Civic Club was formed. Original members were Dalton Hooper as president; Darrel Hall, vice-president; Mrs. Hilda Simes, secretary; W.V. McAdams, parliamentarian; and Mrs. J.C. Griffith, historian. W.I. Nichols, W.T. Adams, Reverend Dan Gardner, Robert Lee Upchurch, Joe Landers and Mrs. Dalton Hooper were named directors.

The Civic Club adopted the slogan "I am ready and willing to help". They cleaned the town of trash, hazardous weed patches, and junk. Later on the Civic Club was able to pave some of the main streets taking traffic out of the mud and dust.
